Ruth Alexander Weddings X All for Love: Indian Wedding and Henna Ceremony

February 7, 2020

We are so pleased to have had the fantastic opportunity of creating one of our most beautiful Indian weddings at ‘Ruth Alexander Weddings’, and what an amazing few days it was! As our business evolves, we take on different wedding styles and varied specifications with each client including more cultural weddings. We are constantly exploring new ideas and expanding our experience in wedding design in both London and Ibiza.

We have been thrilled at the chance to be so creative and diverse with all of our weddings, including this one in particular which started with a stunning, cultural Henna ceremony in Ibiza, preparing the bride and groom for their hand in marriage, followed by a decorative, modern and luxurious wedding the next day. We would love to share with you all of the amazing imagery from this beautiful celebration, but here are some of our favourites that we feel capture the beauty and atmosphere of both days. We hope that they add a bit of spice and colour to your day!

The entire celebration was an unforgettable and visually stunning experience from start to finish, beginning with a vibrant entertainment filled Henna ceremony, through to the glamorous wedding  and late night party, filled with a mix of modern and Bhangra style music. The entire celebration was an infusion of colourful, elegant Indian culture and sophisticated bohemian Ibiza style, merged into one.

Flowers were a bold and key feature throughout this wedding and we wanted the floral decoration to contribute to the energy of this day, creating a beautiful wow-factor in both the Henna ceremony and the wedding to achieve a modern and luxurious look and feel, tailored to the specific tastes and desires of the client.

To achieve the luxurious concept intended for our client, we chose to collaborate with none other than the fabulous and amazingly talented 'All for Love' - one of London's leading florists. Owner and creative director Ruth Davis amazed us with her experience, creative eye and attention to detail in floral design. She started ‘All for Love’ five years ago with a keen passion for designing large scale flowers for weddings and events.

Her countless client projects vary from high-end luxury weddings to state of the art, global brand launches as well as horticultural sculptures and public art installations around London and the world. Her ambitious, naturally inspired, elegant and romantic designs bring a unique and luxurious aesthetic to any occasion, using fresh flowers inspired by the latest colour palettes and design trends. We knew that her work would create the desired look and feel for this particular wedding and would bring to life our beautiful concept.

‘All for Love’ are able to mock up creative design concepts upon request for the client, with renders and sketches to fully visualise a concept before the big day! The company name is the name of Ruth’s favourite flower and also fittingly represents Ruth’s passion for the love shared through giving flowers and the joy that they bring to any occasion, as well as the love that goes into the floristry work itself, created by her and her team. This shone throughout the entire wedding. Other than her trusted skills and talent in the field, she is also one of the loveliest lady’s to work alongside.

The beautiful and exclusive location set the scene for the perfect Henna ceremony, taking place in the stunning ‘Villa Inspiracion’, tucked into the steep hillsides overlooking Es Vedra and the most breathtaking Mediterranean seascape. We wanted our vision to encompass the White Isle vibe, integrating a touch of trendy bohemian Ibiza style throughout the traditional aspects of the day. The Henna ceremony was an abundance of rich colours, flavours and sounds, with vibrant floral detailing flowing throughout the outside and inside of the villa, ranging from decorative installations and the table centre pieces, right through to floating petals in the pool.

Decorative and exotic styling details complemented the colourful and ornate clothing of the bride and groom as well as trendy, traditionally inspired outfits from the guests. Aromas of incense and Indian spices filled the air, mixed with bold flavours from the amazing culinary served by  Birmingham caterers ‘Mahirs Experience’. We also teamed up with top juice makers ‘Rise and Shine’ for fresh, healthy and organic refreshments for the guests on this hot summer day. This all tied in perfectly with the colour scheme of bold pinks, bright reds, warm oranges and sunny yellows. A beautiful clashy mix of rich colours inspired by Indian culture.

Famous Ibiza singer Bahramji performed a set of chilled Indian inspired music on the outdoor floating stage with beautifully costumed Indian performer Celine Dewy dancing into the sunset to the rhythm of conga drums, bells and flutes.

The night continued full of music and colour as pink lighting lit up the trees and outdoor area, whilst floating lights reflected in the pool. Guests enjoyed the view from the candle lit villa with traditional rituals, dancing, Dj’s and Indian music continuing indoors into the night and setting the mood for another set of stunning celebrations the following day.

The wedding proceeded the next day in style, continuing with a bold focus on luxurious floral by ‘All for Love’. They brought to life yet another stunning concept for day two of the celebrations that intertwined ornate styling details, flowing throughout the design and table settings.

In contrast to the warm and ambient colour palette chosen for the traditional Henna ceremony, the client opted for hues of lilacs, pale blues and soft to mid pinks, in keeping with their love of colour. We teamed the flower arrangements with gold styling touches and Ruth added in a subtle use of traditional Indian ribbon amongst the flowers to add to the fusion wedding vibes, giving the overall look a luxe feel with depth and texture. The rich colours contrasted beautifully against the stripped back, wooden tables and lush green gardens of the second stunning Villa location with breathtaking views across Ibiza.

The floral ceremony arch was the main, grand, focal centre piece for the outdoor garden wedding ceremony and was made up of gorgeous fresh roses, peonies and hydrangeas in pinks, blues and lilacs. They sprayed out wildly into the crisp blue sky, using locally foraged foliage to create a looser and more dramatic shape for a unique backdrop for the bride and groom.

The entire grounds of the villa were bursting at the seams with a runner of fresh roses, delphiniums and stocks flowers blooming down the aisle and across the length of the dinner tables. Hydrangeas and rose petals floated across the pool, bringing a fluency and tranquility that tied together the blues of the skyline and the water into the beautiful colour scheme.

No collaboration with ‘All for Love’ would be complete without an eye catching floral installation. A bespoke sculptural piece was created of kissing swans for the client, dividing the space between the marriage ceremony and the dinner party. This provided a beautiful backdrop behind the couples top table during the reception where guests continued to a glamorous yet rustic, outdoor banquet-style dinner, under festoons and candlelight.

The traditional culture was kept alive throughout the wedding day and Indian inspired design was fed through the detailing of the aesthetic into a more modern concept, perfectly reflecting the style of the couple and their two cultures. A sophisticated and stylish glamour was fused with an edgy summer garden party vibe that guests enjoyed as they ate and drank summer cocktails, served from botanical food stations and bars, decorated with hanging vines. It was a fairytale day followed by the perfect cosy evening, dining in style on a balmy Ibiza summer night.
